Chris Webby - Fragile Lives

Album:
None (Promo Single)

Everyone you know, including yourself, will eventually die, it’s only a question of when. Now that I’ve kicked off this blurb in the most depressing manner possible, allow Chris Webby to step in and ease your looming depression with some thought provoking music. Dedicated to his recently passed friend Nick Vallas, the Connecticut native’s new release, Fragile Lives, is everything the title suggests. Behind the boards producer DJ Semi crafts a beat making use of a well placed sample of the Offspring’s The Kids Aren’t Alright that strikes a simultaneously somber and uplifting chord. On the mic Webby reflects on the effects of the inevitable passage of time while also offering up a hip-hop eulogy for his fallen comrade: “Nick I miss you man / I guess fate had a different plan / I thought you and I would be kickin it in 20 years / talkin about our wife and kids over a couple beers.” While Fragile Lives is a stand alone selection, those interested in hearing more real life rap from Webby should cop his appropriately titled There Goes the Neighborhood album, out now.
