While her new album campaign has so far been moderately successful with Gimme Dat and Ride (or more accurately Ride’s video) garnering some buzz, ATL singer/dancer/beauty Ciara is still looking for that big hit single that will leave the masses Speechless. Providing yet another hypnotic, riding and instantly engaging beat are consummate hitmakers and frequent Ciara collaborators Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, but impressively it’s Ciara, whose pure vocal power has never been elite, who performs the most admirably. While the lyrics are your standard modern r&b fare, vocally she manages to avoid getting drowned out by the beat while still keeping her delivery smooth and sexy, which is no easy feat. Though I must admit, her singing’s far more enjoyable when you pretend she’s singing to you. Personally I think this has hit written all over it, but I enjoyed her previous material more than most seem to, so I’ll have to let the Booth have the final word. Ciara’s upcoming, possibly Sharon Stone inspired album Basic Instinct will be available for digital download this fall. Mark your calendars.
