Citizen Shade - Blood Meridian

Producer:
CS

While Cormac McCarthy’s novels No Country for Old Men and The Road have been made into critically-acclaimed films, the equally deserving Blood Meridian has yet to get the same treatment. It does, however, have the next best thing: a quality musical adaptation courtesy of indie soul man Citizen Shade. Coming on the heels of mid-July Booth debut Thank You for Your Time, the record is considerably smoother and funkier than its grim, violent literary counterpart but the Greensboro native’s vivid lyrics capture its dark mood. CS provides the instrumental backdrop, which features glittering keys, brass accents and a muscular bassline. Blood Meridian is unattached to any larger project but, rest assured, we’ll keep you posted on Citizen Shade’s plans as further details emerge.
