City Haze - Lost in Tokyo
Brooklyn buzzmaker City Haze may feel right at home in the streets of America’s biggest metropolis, but that clearly didn’t prepare him for his visit to Japan’s de facto capital. On mixtape cut Lost in Tokyo, Haze gives listeners a crash course on the cultural differences American travelers can expect to encounter during their time in the Land of the Rising Sun, from the obvious (“Where I’m from, we stunt with Bens/ Over here, something different, something called yen.”) to the downright bizarre (“...I see dragons dancin’ around flames / If I looked ‘em in the eye would the beast know my name?”). Backed by the chilled-out, Far Eastern boardwork of none other than Wu-Tang head honcho RZA, this track is a thoroughly entertaining (if not totally plausible) musical vacation. Lost in Tokyo can be found on the just-released, Booth-sponsored Brooklyn’s Finest mixtape, and is also set for inclusion on City Haze’s forthcoming studio album, Star of the City.
