Universal Mind Control

In the fifth century B.C., ancient Greek philospher Heraclitus coined the oft-quoted saying, “Nothing endures but change.”  One of the many artists to take this sentiment to heart is rapper Common, who has used the inspirational words as a jumping-off point for a record on his eighth studio album, Universal Mind Control, out December 9.  While promoting the idea of Changes, and their important role in life, the Midwest native also expresses his agreement with Alphonse Karr, an 18th century French novelist who said that, “The more things change, the more they stay the same.”  Best known for his work with OutKast, producer Mr. DJ lays the groundwork for the consciously-motivated emcee, who turns in a record that could have easily found a home on previous releases Be or Finding Forever.
