Common ft. Nas - Ghetto Dreams

Featuring:
Producer:
No I.D.
Album:
The Dreamer, The Believer

Nas may be one of the greatest spitters ever to pick up a mic, but patience evidently isn’t his strong suit. Friday night, Twitter followers got to witness the Queensbridge vet pestering Chitown vet Common to hurry up and drop Ghetto Dreams, a collaborative single off the latter’s forthcoming ninth full-length—ultimately issuing a 15-minute warning before leaking the record himself. Of course, after a listen to the record, it’s tough to blame him for jumping the gun. Like Nasir Jones’ own recently-released Nasty, this joint is a retro throwback in the best sense of the term; from Windy City heavyweight No I.D.‘s bombastic brass samples and boom-bap percussion right down to the headliner’s densely allusive bars, which he dedicates to the hood chick of his dreams ( “The type of woman that Big said he would die for.”). Nas takes over on the back, fantasizing about the female who’ll finally convince him to turn in his player card. Craving more? Common’s The Dreamer, The Believer (his first release under the Warner Bros banner) is coming this fall. In the meantime, keep it locked for all the latest tunes!
