Convinced - My Surroundings

Posted 7 years ago
Producer:
J Trax
Album:
2 for 1 Tuesdays Series

A visit to L.A. emcee Convinced‘s MySpace page makes it evident that that the Booth newcomer suffers no lack of confidence – among other boasts, he states that “[his] personality is so magnetic, [he’s] unable to carry credit cards,” and that, “[his] charm is so contagious, vaccines have been created for it.”  So, does new record My Surroundings, dropped last week as part of the emcee’s 2 for 1 Tuesdays series, live up to the hype?  Though J Trax‘s keyboard-and-handclap production is just enough to get the job done, Convince exhibits the ability to lyrically elevate a potentially uninteresting cut, particularly on the final verse, in which he tells talentless rappers, “Y’all Aries Spears imitatin’ the best.”  With his 2 for 1 series underway, this emcee undoubtedly has plenty more in store for future installments.  The biggest question, however, remains: are you convinced?
