Country Rap Tunes Vol. 1

Who’s in the mood for a hip-hop history lesson? No one? Well too bad, it’s going down anyway. Way back in October of 2007 the legendary Pimp C had laid down some vocals on a remix to Cory Mo’s heavily buzzing Ain’t Nobody Trippin, but when the Pimp passed two months later the record was shelved indefinitely. Well, it took four years but, with a serious overhaul, the official Ain’t Nobody Trippin’ (Remix) is finally here (as frequenters of Houston strip clubs undoubtedly already know). Chad Butler’s hook sets off the festivities, balancing out the “space age pimpin” of Mo’s self-produced beat (anyone else hear shades of Beamer, Benz or Bentley?). From there it’s up to the assembled rappers to carry the torch, a task they’re more than capable of as Cory sets things off, followed by yet more solid verses from Bun B and David Banner. The song will find a home on the DJ Smallz-hosted Country Rap Tunes Vol 1. Plus, it’s never a bad time to watch some shortys get low and pay homage to a hip-hop legend. RIP Pimp C.
