Crooked I - YODO

Since Drizzy popularized “YOLO” last summer, countless rappers have weighed in on the ubiquitous Motto. Less attention has been paid to its logically necessary corollary, YODO. On the follow-up to album lead single No Sleep Gang, Crooked I tells his foes, ”You only die once / No coming back.” From a certain perspective, that statement sounds reassuring, but the aggressive tone the Long Beach lyricist takes over the uncredited production makes it sound like more of a threat. The gritty ambiance of the official visuals, along with the prevalence of firearms, offers further evidence that intimidation is Crook’s intent. Feeling it? This is just one of many bangers to be found on Apex Predator, set to hit record stores and online retailers Tuesday, July 30. In the meantime, those craving more are encouraged to check out the emcee’s guest contribution to Wrekonize‘s recently-featured Adrenaline.
