Can you Believe it? Southern luminaries David Banner and Big K.R.I.T., together on one record! OK, so it may not qualify as a surprise that hip-hop’s two most prominent Mississippi representers have joined forces—especially since they already did so on Returnof4Eva cut Sookie Now—but still, hearing them trade bars on Banner’s latest single is undeniably dope. Here, the headliner does double-duty on the mic and behind the boards, flipping Jodeci’s Love U 4 Life into a soulful backdrop for verses showcasing his loyalty to the Magnolia State. K.R.I.T. echoes the headliner’s sentiment on the middle, acknowledging that his hustle’s taken him far from his home streets but pledging that Mississippi will always occupy a special place in his heart. This joint is just one of many bangers to be found on Sex, Drugs & Video Games, dropping May 22, for the low, low price of free. In return for the download, Banner asks fans to donate one dollar to The Movement, his campaign to promote artists’ control of their own creations.
