Transmission Lost

For every producer that turns out fast beats to pay the bills like McDonalds turns out burgers (dum-da-dum-duum-dum, Lex Luger), there’s another that takes his craft and creates seriously good music. Enter Dela and Go On, his sophomore feature in our Booth (the last one came almost three years ago with the listener-acclaimed Long Life). With Dela manning the boards, Kansas City’s own and frequent Dela collaborator Reach rocks the mic to deliver a powerful and head-nodding ode to the working class, giving proper respect to the boardwork with lyrics like “I bet you’re thinking ‘this is not where I belong’/ but I know the feeling and that’s partly why you’ve got this song.” While there’s a producer dropping a project every minute of the day, few have the competency to tailor their work to both emcees (Blu and MC Kermizt) and talented vocalists (French singer Sowlie) on the same album, so if you liked the way this one sounds, Go On, do yourself a favor and grab Translation Lost, Dela’s sophomore album, out now.
