Producer:
Cee-Lo & Skot-Free
Album:
Untitled (TBD)

Having split from former group Crime Mob, Diamond is ready to set out on her own and show mainstream audiences just how far a femcee from ATL can get in this industry!  Despite maintaining close links with G’$ Up boss Lil’ Scrappy, Diamond opted not to follow him to Disturbing tha Peace/Def Jam, instead choosing to stick with Warner Bros. for her forthcoming debut album.  Her first Booth feature, Superbad, might sound a bit familiar to avid readers; Nappy Boy/Atlantic girl group Sophia Fresh‘s take on the track hit our front page nearly a year ago.  Diamond smooths the more chaotic original‘s rough edges, adopting a crowd-pleasing sing-song flow.  Though T-Pain‘s adlibs are cut, Cee-Lo Green‘s funky-as-ever backing vocals (featuring memorable lines like “they want some of my McLovin”) is retained, as is his and Skot-Free‘s sparse production. If you enjoy this record’s potent blend of old and new-school ATL appeal. grab a copy of Diamond’s currently-untitled solo debut when it hits stores this August, and be sure to keep it locked to the Booth throughout summer ‘09—Diamond may spit some bars for our exclusive freestyle series!
