Diggy Simmons - What They Been Waiting For

Posted 6 years ago
Producer:
Shane Eli
Album:
Airborne Mixtape

While Diggy Simmons’ first feature, Come to Rock (Freestyle), left most Booth readers convinced that the 15-year-old rapper had what it took to make a name for himself outside the shadow of his legendary father, Rev Run, haters elsewhere on the ‘net continue to hate. On the inaugural leak off his sophomore mixtape, Simmons calmly addresses his non-constructive critics, assuring them that, once they give him a chance, they’ll realize he’s just What They Been Waiting For. Recently-minted reader favorite Shane Eli comes with some characteristically innovative production, enlisting the whole high-school marching band to craft a bombastic backdrop for Diggy’s witty, self-aware rhymes: “You say I’m quote-unquote comin’ from the rich folks, but that’s my pops Rev, but I can spit though. / Because I’m young and articulate, very different…” So, Booth readers, is this talented up-and-comer what you’ve been waiting for? If so, keep it locked for release details on Airborne, the follow-up to Diggy Simmons’ street debut, The First Flight.
