Yes We Can Mixtape

“Yes, we can;” these three simple words could end up changing the world come Election Day.  In honor of Barack Obama’s now-famous quote, DJ Green Lantern has created the Yes, We Can mixtape.  For the project, Green Lantern has remixed Black President, a cut originally found on Nas’s Untitled album,  with three new voices respected for their wit as much as their grit. David Banner, Talib Kweli and Busta Rhymes all wax poetic on what it would be like to have Obama as our next president, the latter personally handing George Bush his walking papers. This remix of Black President is just one more example of hip-hop’s legacy of raising political awareness in a positive, empowering manner (but try telling that to FOX News).
