DJ Kay Slay ft. Papoose & Junior Reid - Don’t Take It There

Posted 8 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Clinton Sparks
Album:
More Than Just A DJ! (Mixtape)

It might come as a surprise to you that between ’04 and ’08, Papoose released a mind-blowing 20 mixtapes (coming out to an average of more than one every three months, folks) without releasing a single studio album. Alright already, Papoose, we get it: you don’t want to be tied down by the politics of the industry. Even with the release of his debut album, The Nacirema Dream, always looming, the Bed-Stuy rapper is still staying true to his roots.  Along with Jamaican dancehall artist Junior Reid, Papoose appears on DJ Kay Slay’s new track, Don’t Take It There, off Slay’s upcoming effort, More Than Just A DJ (the mixtape, of course). As can be expected from this crowd, the song is a bit of good old-fashioned fight rap. Producer and DJ Clinton Sparks contributes a blaring, heavily-sampled beat.
