DJ Kay Slay ft. Ray J, Busta Rhymes, Jim Jones & Plies - Blockstars

Posted about 7 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Jimi Kendrix & J Math [Street Radio]
Album:
More Than a DJ

Remember the “rockstar” fad that peaked in ‘07, thanks in large part to a certain Atlanta threesome‘s Billboard #2 hit?  Though the trend’s been in remission for quite a while now, DJ Kay Slay‘s decided to follow in Hova‘s footsteps and pronounce it dead once and for all.  On Kay’s latest single, Plies, Jim Jones, and Busta Rhymes all clearly state that as young people, they never wanted to be rockstars; on the contrary, they simply wanted to be Blockstars, well-known and respected in their own hoods. Slay-favorite Ray J brings plenty of pop appeal on the hook, but producers Jimi Kendrix & J Math are this track’s co-MVPs, delivering the “epic” factor we’ve come to expect from DJ compilation singles.  If, after hearing this trend-killing track, you agree that Kay Slay’s More Than A DJ, keep it locked to the Booth for further details on his forthcoming LP (Sept. ‘09) of the same name.
