DJ Khaled ft. Rick Ross, Plies, T-Pain & Lil Wayne - Welcome to My Hood

Featuring:
Producer:
The Renegades (Co-Prod. DJ Khaled & Nasty Beatmakers)
Album:
We the Best Forever

In his mind, DJ Khaled is batting a clean 1.000 with a couple of World Series rings, though many would point to his fair share of strikeouts. We’ve long moved past the fact that he doesn’t rap, and automatically starts every track with his usual assortment of ad-libbing, but at least he’s consistent in that regard. The first release under his new partnership with Cash Money/Universal, new single Welcome to My Hood, is also consistent, but for the wrong reasons: the same four men Khaled uses again and again and a very familiar subject matter. Over an overabundance of synths and drums from The Renegades and a hook (of course) from T-Pain, Rick Ross comes through with his standard ignorantly opulent verse, while Lil Wayne delivers a one finger salute to jail, the cops and everyone doubting him. But it’s actually Plies who steals the show. Debunking the “weak middle verse sandwiched on a posse cut” myth, Plies takes what made Rick Ross well, Rick Ross, and one ups him for an entertaining guest shot. Khaled’s eminently predictably titled fifth album, We the Best Forever, is coming soon – to a hood near you of course.
