Every so often a track comes along that put you into a trance, subconsciously forcing you to nod your head and tap your foot. Case in point: the supremely smooth Empty Paradise, a fresh track by newcomer Dre-Ski that’s also a DJBooth exclusive. Thanks in no small part to almost absurdly cool funk-soul production from J Cole, who just graced us with his highly rated solo effort Lights Please, and featuring a verse from up-and-coming D.C. rapper Marky, Empty Paradise is first and foremost a showcase for the lyrical abilities of Dre-Ski, a Virginia born emcee whose verses are the perfect blend of swagger and laid-back cool (think a slightly harder Pharrell as a comparison).  Empty Paradise is part of a currently unnamed project, but those digging Dre-Ski’s subtle style can download his new mixtape Follow Me, and of course keep it locked to DJBooth.net.
