Believe it or not, Amy Winehouse was once a promising young musician.  My, my, my, how fast things can change!  While the wino pop-wreck may have capsized due to drug addiction and legal trouble, not all hope is lost for her fans; Welsh singer Duffy‘s music boasts a remarkably similar soul-filled voice and throwback mentality.  On a Cool & Dre remix of Mercy, the UK chart-topping second single off her debut album, Rockferry, The Game‘s two brief verses help to bring a more mainstream appeal to the song.  Additionally, fans of Ben E. King (and Sean Kingston) will also recognize the borrowed Stand By Me bassline.  As long as Duffy avoids the rehab route, songs like Mercy should have no trouble winning over a now-alienated Winehouse fanbase.
