Eighty4 Fly - Cool Kids

Posted 4 years ago
Producer:
WHP
Album:

Call Eighty4 Fly a hipster, a hip-hopper, a skater or whatever other appellation you’d like to hit him with; as far as the Seattle rhymesayer is concerned, he’s just “...one of them Cool Kids.” The follow-up to this month’s reader-acclaimed Late Night, this freshly-released single is an effervescent blend of hip-hop and indie-pop, with WHP serving up a hip-swiveling beat reminiscent of MGMT’s Electric Feel (though not drawn from the record, as far as I know) as the Seattle rhymesayer details his search for a woman fly enough to ride with him. Jon Jon Augustavo provides visuals to match the record’s eclectic vibe—from skate tricks and curbside Cee-lo matches to old-school Gameboys and dancing robots, there’s something to entertain just about every viewer. Released last month, COLORS is available now for streaming and download in the Booth. Additionally, be sure to check out Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ forthcoming Heist LP for a guest appearance from the Pacific Northwestern buzzmaker.
