Every city has it’s ups and downs, but it’s hard not to love one’s own hometown.  Take Minneapolis, for example; though our long, grueling winters are enough to give a hermit cabin fever,  those who have the opportunity to spend a summer night chilling downtown will quickly come to appreciate the Mill City’s charms.  Making its world premiere here at DJBooth.net, this mixtape cut finds the emcee who brought us John Wilkes Booth teaming up with reader favorite Shawn Chystopher (whose latest single, Untitled, is also featured today) to pay ironically affectionate tribute to Inglewood, the City of Champions—or the City of Junkyards, depending on who you ask.  Though the emcees’ deadpan descriptions of crooked cops, drug deals, and toddler-inflicted gun crime may scare off the fainthearted, production duo LAUSD‘s summery mix of synths and piano will draw them right back in.  In fact, a winter vacation in sunny Inglewood is starting to sound pretty nice—Prez, if you were to let me crash on your couch from, say, this November through April 2010, I might be able to hook you up with some DJBooth.net swag.  Let me know whenever.  In any case, those digging this tongue-in-cheek summer jam are sure to find more to their liking on IM-King Clothing Presents: Animal Style!, set to drop in late July.
