Emilio Rojas ft. B.o.B. & Leo - Tell No Lies

Posted 5 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
DJ Green Lantern & V12 The Hitman
Album:
Life Without Shame

In an age where rappers shamelessly flaunt their material wealth, DJBooth Freestyle Alum Emilio Rojas is very frank about his less-than-ideal financial standing on Tell No Lies, a new single from his latest mixtape, Life Without Shame. Let’s be real –the majority of us can relate to a song about spending more than you make, or being late on the rent, more than songs about popping bottles and flying in G6 jets (whether we want to admit it or not). Tell No Lies falls perfectly in line with the idea behind the title as we get Emilio Rojas delivering verses over a DJ Green Lantern and V12 The Hitman produced beat, delving into his money woes with a sincere conviction: “My shorty wakin’ up hungover. It’s funny, because this champagne lifestyle is sobering.” For guests, B.o.B comes through with an equally sincere verse that that echoes Rojas’ frustrations – “Folks tellin’ me I made it. Please, I ain’t made sh*t, my soul still need saving” – while newcomer Leo jumps in with a distinctive hook. And what better way to save your soul than to admit to the world (and yourself) when you’re not at your best?
