Erik Flowchild - Speech

Posted 5 years ago
Producer:
Matthew Burnett
Album:
Valedictorian EP

It’s amazing how common it is to see an artist in his early twenties (or teens, for that matter) jump on the scene in the hip-hop game nowadays. What’s even more remarkable is that a young emcee by the name of Erik Flowchild is a seasoned veteran in the game before 22. The Canadian artist is back at it again with his new single, Speech, a record that’ll get listeners nodding their heads before they know it. One of the standout elements on display is the production by Matthew Burnett, transitioning from a horn section to strings to ivory keys (with a little Kanye sample thrown in the mix) while still keeping the song seamless. Flowchild does what has become expected from him, using his creative delivery to catch the audience’s attention. If you like this type of dialogue, be sure to keep a lookout for the latest project from Ontario’s own, the Valedictorian EP, dropping, quote, “sooner than you think”. Ominous and tantalizing indeed.
