Erk Tha Jerk ft. J. Myers - Reach the Top

Posted 5 years ago
Producer:
Invasion
Album:
Nerd's Eye View

Bay Area fast riser Erk Tha Jerk has done well for himself on the underground music scene, building a much deserved buzz for his unique brand of relatable hip-hop. Today, however, he makes his most prestigious move yet, at least as far as we’re concerned, to DJBooth’s pages with his first feature (round of applause). The self-proclaimed Hood Nerd has arrived with his latest single, Reach the Top, a lightly head nodding ode to grinding for success. Backed by some melodic and soulful production from Invasion, Jerk and feature J. Myers bounce back and forth on the topic of climbing the ladder, regardless of the obstacles in their path, while scooping up some honeys along the way: “To my city, I’m just trying to put you on/ and to the pretty girls watching I’m just trying to get you home.” Will Erk’s debut effort reach the top of our DJBooth charts? We’ll find out soon. And if you liked the fresh vibe laid down here, there’s no need to wait; his long-awaited release, Nerd’s Eye View, is available right now for hood nerds worldwide to enjoy.
