Lifestyles of the Y&I EP

In recent months, a few up-and-comers have stood out from the pack by introducing themselves with an exclusive world premiere (see Kno-No‘s Ain’t Changed, RaSun‘s Can’t Get You Off My Mind).  The latest Booth newcomer to join this elite category is Harlem’s ESSO, who’s chosen to debut the first track off his forthcoming Lifestyles of the Young & Ignorant EP (which has yet to receive a release date) at this very site.  Meditating on how difficult it is to truly Change Your Life, the emcee spits an abridged autobiography, details the trials and tribulations of a few close friends, and caps the track off with a tribute to hip-hop’s enduring power (which is refreshing, considering how quick some are to pronounce the genre dead).  Complete with a mellow, string-driven instrumental by Frequency this contemplative cut offers no easy answers, but its central message rings true: “Whether you hustle or you nine-to-five juggle, you just better appreciate your life.”
