The Anti-Socialite

The hipster-beloved Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been enjoying quite a bit of attention from the rap game lately – well, one of their songs has, anyway. Previously flipped on features by King Mez (Winter) and Sam Adams (Heads Will Roll (Remix)), ‘09 hit Heads Will Roll is back again, this time serving as the backbone of ESSO‘s latest mixtape single. Fortified with driving percussion and videogamey sound effects by beatsmith Rena1ssance, the synth-scorching sample pulses in the background as the Harlem rapper talks himself into approaching a dangerously attractive shawty:“I better not catch her eye / she’s dressed to kill and I’m ready to die / It’s treason for me to not try to introduce her to I.” While I’ll leave it to you to decide how this track stacks up against the two mentioned above, I can state with confidence that neither contains an ad-lib doper than ESSO’s shout of “I’m the King of England!” In any case, those who like what they’re hearing should hightail it down to our mixtape page and check out the emcee’s Booth-sponsored Anti-Socialite mixtape, available now for streaming and free download!
