Off the Wall Mixtape

For the 30th anniversary of Off the Wall, the landmark fifth album that bridged the gap between Michael Jackson‘s run as Jackson 5 frontman and the pop icon’s Thriller-era glory days, Harlem rapper ESSO teamed up with producer Woody to put together a mixtape of the same name, with each cut inspired by one from the classic LP.  With View From The Top, ESSO ends the street album on a motivational note, posing the rhetorical question, “Why aim and not aim for greatness?”  On the production tip, Woody delivers a faithful interpolation of OtW‘s percussion-heavy closer, Burn This Disco OutOff The Wall (the mixtape) is available for free download here, and look for ESSO’s contribution to our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series to hit our homepage early next month!
