Mick Boogie Presents: One Shot One Kill (Mixtape)

Despite only being 19 years old, West Coast emcee Fashawn raps like a 10-year-plus veteran.  Taking a major step toward giving “‘90s babies” a leg up in the current hip-hop landscape, the Fresno native recently released a mixtape with Mick Boogie, entitled One Shot One Kill.  On Our Way, Fashawn describes the gritty street life with a somewhat old-school/conscious kind of flow, sort of like Dilated Peoples.  That comparison didn’t pop out of thin air; Evidence, the group’s frontman,  joins Fashawn’s “way” with his unique combination of wit and humor.  With a DJ Premier/Statik Selektah-like beat from fellow Californian Exile, Our Way proves that strong, lyrical emceeing isn’t confined by age or region— all it takes is soul.
