The Foodchain ft. Kenton Dunson - Traction
Having gained considerable Traction in the Booth with last week’s Dear Industry, The Foodchain aren’t about to let that momentum go to waste. Aware that the only surefire way to keep from losing their grip and tumbling into the abyss is to keep pushing onward and upward, the the Denver, Colorado crew are already back with a follow-up single off their forthcoming LP. A uniquely chill, lyrical ode to the hustle, this cut finds crew member Mass Prod crafting a smoldering synth beat to back his colleagues as they announce their intent to keep grinding regardless of their disenchantment with the game (as expressed in the fantastic mixed metaphor, “Rap’s a urinal, a urinal’s a casket / Make me wanna piss on his ashes for fathering these bastards.”). DMV representer Kenton Dunson echoes their sentiments on the guest tip, taking center stage on the hook as well a delivering a witty chronicle of his hustle on the front: “On my Talladega tryin’ to burn hard / Ever since Chip & Dale I could earn hearts / Then I learned not to work hard—work, smart.” Stomach still growling? Then don’t miss The Foodchain’s Brunch LP when it arrives on the ‘net tomorrow, November 11.
