Just Being Frank

Want to get intimately familiar with the biggest borough in hip-hop, but don’t have the time or money to book a flight to N.Y.C.? Luckily for you, local emcee Frank B.‘s taking all who will listen on a guided tour of his home streets on his latest single, The Other Side of Brooklyn. Originally included on DJBooth-sponsored compilation mixtape Brooklyn’s Finest, the track finds Australian producer M-Phazes serving up an appropriately retro-informed East Coast beat (complete with a sampled hook by DJ Dutchmaster, who grabs vocal snippets from a variety of Brooklyn classics) as Frank looks back on the formative years he spent in BK’s lesser-known neighborhoods “I’m talkin’ Mill Basin, down to Bentonhearst, Sheepshead, Park Slope, don’t matter what I mention first.” As well as being featured on Brooklyn’s Finest, Other Side is available now for purchase on iTunes. It will also be included on the emcee’s punnily-named forthcoming album, Just Being Frank, which is set to hit stores and online retailers “soon.”
