Mr. Lee
Album:
DJ Skee Presents: Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik

It’s been nearly two years since we last heard from Freddie Gibbs, but those who thought the Gary, Indiana rapper was gone for good can think again—as he explains on his latest feature, he’s going to be on his grind from the Womb 2 The Tomb.  On this newly-leaked cut, the Midwestern rapper joins forces with ATL emcee Pill to explain just how committed he is to keeping it street.  Though the man who brought us Music sounds right at home over Texan producer Mr. Lee‘s humid beat, driven by ominous organ and twanging guitar riffs, the headliner’s energetically-flowed bars are equally worthy of praise.  Above all, this cut’s a an impressive showcase of the region-blending style Gibbs alludes to in the Outkast-referencing title of his forthcoming street album (and the “influences” list on his MySpace page).  For more proof that hard-hitting, street-oriented hip-hop knows no geographical boundaries, refer to DJ Skee Presents Freddie Gibbs: Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik, coming soon.
