Freddie Gibbs ft. Daz - Rap Money

Posted 5 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Statik Selektah
Album:
Lord Giveth, Lord Taketh Away

It’s not that rap music needs another ode to the mighty dollar, dollar bill, but the pursuit of money can be enhanced by quality production and lyricism adds reflection beyond the mere pursuit of stacking Franklins. Over an exceptionally smooth Statik Selektah beat, Gary, Indiana, native Freddie Gibbs goes into detail about why he wants that Rap Money, revealing his drug dealing past as something tiresome and that he’d rather be doing rap professionally: “I’d rather do this shit, than that shit,” he explains in the simple chorus. Joining him is Tha Dogg Pound’s Daz, who sums up his past 20 years in hip-hop as being a dream that he’s glad he always believed in, never giving up even when facing hard times. Rap Money is from the live recorded project – recorded in 24 hours as a matter of fact on June 22 at Statik’s studio – called Lord Giveth, Lord Taketh Away, due to drop at midnight tonight. Gibbs, who recently signed to Jeezy’s CTE label, is considered one of the next true emcees who could also grab national commercial acclaim. Does Rap Money do that reputation justice? Tell the Booth.
