French Montana ft. Jadakiss - New York Minute

Posted 7 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
H. Fraud
Album:
Untitled (TBD)

Due to the outside perception that New Yorkers are hurried and impatient by nature, the phrase New York Minute has come to mean an extremely short period of time (Johnny Carson once described it as the time it takes “From the (traffic) lights to turn green, till the guy behind you starts honking his horn”).  On his latest single, South Bronx native French Montana describes everything that can happen in that split-second interval, touching on such key events in hip-hop history as 2Pac and B.I.G.‘s shooting deaths, Shyne and Remy Ma‘s prison sentences, Jay-Z‘s ascent to the top of the game, as well as his own signing to Akon‘s Konvict Muzik.  Though fellow New Yorker Jadakiss expands on the theme, detailing Lil’ Kim and Foxy Brown‘s own jail stints and the decline of record sales in a memorable guest verse, the undisputed highlight is producer H. Fraud‘s epic-sounding beat, which samples Don Henley’s classic of the same name.  Expect this to get ratings as high as the Empire State Building, and to stay in our charts for more than just a New York Minute.
