Amidst Drake’s debut and countless other “freshmen” offerings, one major rapper has been largely out of the spotlight the last couple of years. We’ve heard relatively little from Game, even considering his 20-minute freestyle and a smattering of singles (Shake, Ain’t No Doubt About It). At this point, I don’t know whether The R.E.D. Album is coming out or if it’s in a magical wilderness where copies of Detox ride on unicorns. What I do know is that Game will be dropping off his Brake Lights mixtape this week, produced entirely by Miami super-duo Cool & Dre. Accordingly, today we present you the first leak, M.I.A., where he cleverly relates his three “heats” (a.k.a. firearms) to the newly formed trio in Miami. My favorite tracks from The Game have been his collaborations with Cool & Dre, so I’m glad they linked up again for the track’s slowly pacing beat, and lyrically Game hasn’t changed his raspy flow a bit on M.I.A.. Are you digging M.I.A.? Good, because it looks like Brake Lights will have to tide fans over until The R.E.D. Album finally emerges from the ether.
