Gilbere Forte - PRAY

Posted 3 years ago
Producer:
Raak
Album:

Don’t let the title of Gilbere Forte’s latest video single and EP title track fool you; as a listen to PRAY reveals, the Philly phenom ain’t about to get down on his knees for anyone. Here, frequent behind-the-boards collaborator Raak loops and chops vocal samples from Fiona Apple’s Every Single Night as Forte’ trumpets his supremacy from the heavens and rains fire and brimstone on the competition. Throughout the cut, he offers a dazzling demonstration of his versatility on the mic, interweaving Yeezy-esque drawls and growls, rubbery, Southern-style flows and numerous over-the-top vocal quirks to turn in one of his most dynamic performances to date. While Gilbere Forte’s PRAY EP as yet lacks a drop date, those craving more fresh, eclectic jams can still cop January’s YOTD: Year of the Dragon tape for free in The DJBooth.
