Album:
Love, Life & Loyalty

After years of waiting – remember when we thought the album was gonna drop before the end of ‘08? – the arrival of GLC‘s debut set is just one short day away. To tide everyone over, the G.O.O.D. Music mainstay’s hooked up with a Chi-town neighbor to bring us one last leak. As those who know their oldies may have guessed, Cold as Ice finds beatsmith Xcel drawing inspiration from Foreigner’s cut of the same name, flipping the ‘77 single’s piano chords into a midtempo, synth-infused backdrop for GLC’s tales of the hustle. After the headliner flaunts his moneymaking abilities and ice-cold style in a drawled opener, the record gets a dose of adrenaline courtesy of guest emcee Twista; the Windy City motormouth hits the ground running, lamenting his girl’s inability to understand his big-pimpin lifestyle in a characteristically speedy middle 16. While this slow-rolling banger is sure to earn its share of street rotation, the question remains: will Gangsta L. Crisis’ relentless grind yield big dividends? That depends on how many of you head down to your local record store and pick up a copy of Life Love & Loyalty when it drops on Tuesday, October 12.
