6Pack Vol. 1: A Prelude to Purp, Wind & Fire

Every city has a different feel, and no one can better express that feeling musically than natives of that particular town. So when two of Atlanta’s finest, Grip Plyaz and Aleon Craft, linked up for a song called Step Out, I was immediately reminded of my visits to the funk-infused music capitol of the South. Production-wise, The Weathermen get busier than a CPA during tax season, making this one sound and feel like the cool breeze of a downtown Atlanta evening. Grip and Aleon provide brilliant imagery that is surrounded by a dope, Sleepy Brown inspired hook. Though quotables are in excess - “Nah you can’t copy this, this ain’t Kinko’s!” - neither emcee outshines the other; which in this case is a good thing because it gives the listener the opportunity to appreciate what a good song Step Out is overall. If you’re appreciating the latest and greatest sound from the ATL So then go download Grip Plyaz’ 6Pack vol. 1: A Prelude to Purp, Wind & Fire project when it drops in June over at TSS (The Smoking Section).
