Hobbes ft. Dexter Fizz - Back In 99

Posted 3 years ago

Wish you were still Back in ‘99, enjoying the now-classic sounds and fashions of pre-millennial hip-hop? Well, as far as I know, scientists still have yet to invent a working time machine, but I’ve got the next best thing. The latest single and first Booth feature from Hobbes is a pitch-perfect pastiche of 1990s rap (though if I was going to split hairs, I’d say it felt more early/mid than late-90s). Here, GUTS’ jazzy loops bump in the back as the Baltimore rhymesayer takes a lyrical trip down Memory Lane, busting out some engaging throwback flows in the process. Fellow Old Line State repper Dexter Fizz lends his guest rhymes to the record’s middle portion. Enjoyed the nostalgia trip? More fresh, era-bridging material awaits on Hobbes’ self-titled LP, available now for free download via the artist’s Bandcamp page.
