The ILLZ - To Know Your Place in The Universe

Posted 5 years ago
Producer:
Coldcut & DJ Krush
Album:
:03 From GOLD EP

If you were to ask me at this very moment, “Richard, what is your place in the universe?”, I’d probably tell you something like “Sitting at a desk, in front of a computer, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, America, Earth…” But that’s because I’m a smartass – The ILLZ, on the other hand, is a deep thinker, and on new mixtape leak To Know Your Place in the Universe the Jersey native uses that very same question as the springboard for some more profound ruminations on life, the universe and everything. Over a moody string backdrop sampled from DJ Coldcut and Krush‘s The Sign and The Sign (Remix) (which themselves featured vocal snippets from Earth, Wind & Fire’s Energy), the freestyle series alumnus surveys the road that lies ahead, and affirms his commitment to pursuing musical greatness: “I’m standin’ by my guns like Charlton Heston, and maybe this once I feel destined…” Like what you’re hearing? This philosophically-inclined banger and much more can be found on ILLZ’:03 From GOLD EP, due out in March. In addition, fans can click here to check out episode one of the artist’s new documentary series, The GOLD.
