Immortal Technique ft. Brother Ali, Chuck D & Killer Mike - Civil War

Posted 4 years ago
Producer:
Southpaw
Album:
The Martyr

In sharp contrast to his previous feature Toast to the Dead, a Dilla produced tribute to all the good people in history who have been crushed under the wheels of the machine, Immortal Technique’s new offering is a Patron-soaked party anthem that has its swag on a hundred million trillion. Sorry, I’m just messing with you. Of course Civil War is a take-no-prisoners banger that expands the North/South divide in hip-hop into a global fight against cultural extinction. Producer Southpaw lays down an appropriately marching beat for the assembled emcees to riot too, beginning with Tech who sets the stage for the song’s concept early on: “I never hate on the South, I respect they vision / I just hate on n**gas that promote Sambo-ism.” It’s a sentiment so revolutionary that the original Public Enemy Chuck D just had to get involved on the hook, while both Killer Mike and Brother Ali lay down verses aimed at burning down racism like lyrical Molotov cocktails. For even more not-even-remotely-swag hip-hop be sure to pick up a copy of Technique’s new album, The Martyr, dropping tomorrow, October 27.
