Resume Respect EP

Here in the Booth, hardly a day goes by that we’re not introduced to a promising up-and-comer grinding nonstop to secure his Place in the Game. One of several debuts in tonight’s lineup (see also: first features from Steve Liriks and Jackie Chain), J. Capri stakes his own claim on future greatness on this new joint, the latest single off his forthcoming EP. Majestic lives up to his name, flipping a string-drenched soul sample into a fittingly epic backdrop for Capri’s gruffly-flowed verses, which find him cutting braggadocio with allusive wit. Established Booth fave, freestyle series alum and fellow North Carolina representative King Mez takes over on the middle, delivering bars liberally spiced with memorable turns of phrase: “It’s proof like Everclear when you’re hearin’ my severe truth, it’s like I started drivin’ a car in gear two.” While finding one’s Place in the Game is a long and arduous process, I have a feeling J. Capri will have no trouble securing a regular spot in the Booth – but what do you think, readers? Those who like what they’re hearing can expect more where this came from on Resume Respect, due out in November.
