Fayettenam-raised New York City transplant J. Cole has come to save the day and put North Carolina back on the map. Yes, Petey Pablo had his run, but what have we heard from the Tar Heel State since? Every time I listen to J. Cole, I always think about Verizon commercials because it seems like the whole industry is behind him. Today we bring you We On, which was originally recorded for placement on DJ Khaled’s Victory album but somehow didn’t make the cut (and won’t land on Cole’s own studio debut). On the lyrical side Cole comes in tough as usual, flowing over his own rock and roll-influenced production. When we asked him about the record, he wasn’t even aware that it had leaked to these internets. Regardless, we’re glad it has arrived, because this is going directly to my iPod’s April playlist. Will it make it onto yours? Let’s see what the DJ Booth has to say.
