Rebirth of Detroit

With another posthumous release ready to drop tomorrow, the J Dilla legacy continues to grow. Michigan natives Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids and Boldy James present the latest single from Dilla’s new album, Rebirth of Detroit, the aptly-titled Detroit Game. This soulful ode to his hometown is laid out over another unreleased track from Mr. Yancey that happens to be the best use of a David Essex Rock On sample that I’ve ever heard. Of course, he threw in his signature drums and a few samples bring it all together and make it his own. Chuck and Boldy James ride the track perfectly with their Motor City street jargon and it works perfectly while pushing this creation over the top. Detroit Game appears to be the perfect lead in to what the Rebirth of Detroit album is about to give us. Dilla lives in the hearts of many, so check out Rebirth of Detroit when it drops tomorrow (6/12) and help keep his legacy going strong.
