J The S - WTF

Album:
The Last Days

As a supporter of my local—and the global—Occupy movement, I’ve frequently had to grit my teeth while others tarred protestors as unemployed layabouts whose problems could be solved with a little elbow grease. Though I doubt that anyone who doesn’t already see the writing on the wall is going to be won over by an underground hip-hop joint (however fresh), J The S makes a valiant effort to enlighten the populace on the latest leak off his Booth-sponsored debut set, rhyming about the facets of our socioeconomic system that make him go “WTF.” With Keelay and Lions Share‘s understated funk grooves as his backdrop, the Boston rhymesayer unmasks the “perilous scheme” that is the American Dream. Expressing his solidarity for those forced to make impossible choices between bills, health care and food for the family, Jake encourages listeners to make like Public Enemy and “Shut’em Down.” Feeling this politically-charged jam? WTF and many more bangers await J the S’s highly-anticipated The Last Days LP, set to hit our mixtape page January 18, for free streaming and download.
