Jack Splash ft. Missy & Jazmine Sullivan - I Could Have Loved You

Technology and Love Might Save Us All

Here in the Twin Cities, Prince is still held in very high regard, but the sad truth of the matter is that his last couple dozen albums just haven’t packed the freaky, feel-good punch of his ‘80s output.  Plus he’s gone a little crazy, and not in the cool, Let’s Go Crazy sense.  Now, I’m not saying anyone could fill the Purple One’s tiny, tiny shoes (in fact, it would probably hurt to try), but up-and-coming singer/producer Jack Splash showcases a similar spark on his first feature, making its exclusive world premiere right here in the Booth.  Thanks to the J Records signee’s clipped falsetto and keyboard-driven, electro-funk instrumental, I Could Have Loved You sounds a little like a club-hop reimagining of ‘86 hit Kiss.  Booth-acclaimed soul songstress Jazmine Sullivan and veteran femcee Missy Elliot bring plenty of big-name appeal with (respectively) an ultra-catchy hook and a sexed-up closing verse, but it’s Splash’s own breathless vocals that truly carry this left-of-center banger.  For more of this up-and-comer’s retro-futuristic sounds, grab a copy of Technology and Love Might Save Us All when it hits stores September 1st.
