With a name as instantly memorable as Jaguar Wright I find it hard to believe that we haven’t yet posted material from the long-standing singer, but no site’s perfect (not even DJBooth). Allow us to begin to atone via Jaguar’s new single Switch (Make Change), an inspirational anthem crafted to shake listener’s to the core. Providing the production on Switch is Fel Sweetenberg, who managed to simultaneously reach back to some classic soul sounds while still making a distinctly modern record. But, of course, it’s Jaguar’s vocal work that elevates this into a must listen – a lot of people can sing, but very few can sing like this. Speaking of distinct voices, Peedi Crack joins in the festivities on the back end, urging listeners to always push to expand their horizons. While Make Change hasn’t made its way onto a full-length release (yet), those feeling inspired by Jaguar’s sound should keep an eye out for both an LP and EP from her soon. After all, why march to the beat of someone else’s drum?
