Jah Cure ft. Rick Ross & Mavado - Like I See It

World Cry

Once a G, always a G. While Jah Cure‘s poignant Booth debut, Unconditional Love, found the reggae vet showcasing surprising positivity for a man who had recently served an eight-year prison sentence for a crime he didn’t commit, longtime fans will be pleased to hear that Cure’s spiritual centeredness won’t prevent him from making hard-nosed music for the streets. Case in point: new single Like I See It, a gritty street banger par excellence. Over producer James Beard‘s stark, organ/guitar groove, the artist shouts-out “all the rude boys in the capital” and proceeds to explain exactly why potential troublemakers should step lightly in his neighborhood. Backing up the headliner’s tough-talk are two worthy wingmen: Panhandle State heavyweight Rick Ross spits an opener refreshingly light on the product placement, and dancehall mainstay Mavado hops on board later on to fill us in on his own epic grind. Is this the kind of record that’ll add zeros to Jah Cure’s bankroll? I trust Booth readers will call this one as they see it. Those digging it should keep it locked for the latest on World Cry, which has yet to receive a release date.
