Janelle Monae ft. B.o.B & Lupe Fiasco - Tightrope (Wondamix)

Posted 6 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Nate "Rocket" Wonder, Chuck Lightning and Janelle Monáe
Album:
The ArchAndroid

If Janelle Monae enlisting the help of the always outstanding B.o.B. and Lupe Fiasco on the official remix of Tightrope makes you think of Zeus holding a meeting of the Greek gods, you’re on the right track. While loyal listeners will undoubtedly notice that the remixed beat, dubbed the Wondamix version, is far more bare, the track’s most notable feature is the revelation of yet another one of Ms. Janelle’s many talents – dropping rhymes. She does this so well, in fact, that she hardly seems out of place against heavy hitters Bobby and Lupe, who both take Nate Wonder and Chuck Lightning’s minimalist jazz-driven beat and run with it. But is it better than the original, you ask? Is the Mona Lisa better than the Birth of Venus? Is the Taj Mahal greater than the pyramids of Egypt? Alright, I’ll calm down, but simply put, it’s pretty darn good. You can check out the original Tightrope, and much more amazing music, on Janelle’s newly-released, 4.5-spun album The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III).
