The 4th Chapter EP

It can look like the artists we keep steadily moving through our headphones have it made – money, women, posts on The DJBooth – but we rarely see the struggle and doubt that happens behind the scenes, unless an artist like Jared Evan is brave enough to open up his life. On his new single, It’s Over, the always versatile Evan puts his hard-rhyming ways on full display, speaking on the adversity he overcame as a kid growing up outside the bounds of the standard path to success. Pair that with frankly more superb production from !llmind, who not only blends the titular sample with pounding percussion but crafts an atmospheric, horn-laden instrumental on the back end, and you’ve got one of the “realer” tracks you’re ever going to hear. Fans of Evan’s brand of creative honesty have a lot to look forward to. Following the release of this Rik Cordero-directed video, Evan’s The 4th Chapter EP will be available for free download Tuesday, June 26. In the meantime, why not check out Jared’s previous album, Back & Fourth, available for free stream and download right now? Sorry, that was a rhetorical question – go check out Back & Fourth now.
