Jarell Perry - Black Valentine

White EP

Next month at SXSW, indie R&B singer Jarell Perry will be unleashing his latest EP, White. A multifaceted project encompassing “stunning visuals and a live show” as well as seven tracks’ worth of new music, the set is being funded through an ongoing Kickstarter campaign. While new single Black Valentine showcases only the audio side, its irresistibly smooth vibe should be all the convincing you need to cop the set once it arrives—and perhaps even pledge a few dollars in advance. Over constant collaborator HSVN‘s simmering synths and fingersnaps, the singer makes a passionate plea for a special girl’s affection: “Give me something I can work with and I’ll give you my life. / Just say that you’ll be mine before I die.” The cut culminates in a driving, double-time chorus laced with cascading vocal harmonies. In addition to watching our pages for further singles off White, fans can currently catch Perry and HSVN opening for YUNA on the latter’s North American tour. Visit the Kickstarter link above to learn when they’ll be visiting a city near you.
